THE SPS PROCESS

Unique to SPS is the DC current generating heat internally, as opposed to conventional methods of materials densification such as hot pressing, wherein the heat is external to the sample. While other traditional methods of materials processing require hours to reach peak temperature, Thermal Technology's SPS takes only minutes. The clear benefits of SPS are the significant savings of time and energy and the ability to retain nano-structures.

SPS SYSTEMS

Thermal Technology's SPS systems come in a variety of configurations:

  • SPS Model 10 Series:
    10 tons of force and a 3,000 to 5,000 amp power supply (pictured below)
    Ex: Model 10-4 with 10 tons of force and a 4000 amp power supply
  • SPS Model 25 Series:
    25 tons of force and a 5,000 to 10,000 amp power supply (pictured below)
  • DCS* Model 100 Series:
    100 tons of force and a 30,000 amp power supply
  • DCS* Model 250 Series:
    250 tons of force and a 60,000 amp power supply
  • The same SPS technolology using a non-pulsed current, hence Direct Current Sintering (DCS)
